Mobile broadband provider Three (3) has revealed the details of its new Wi-Fi modem (mobile broadband router or MiFi) it plans to introduce shortly.
It is Huawei E586 wireless modem (MiFi) which can deliver download speeds of up to 21Mbps using next generation HSPA+ technology.
When it comes to upload speeds, the new MiFi would offer up to 5.6Mbps speeds in good coverage areas. The Huawei E586 MiFi device will show details like download speed, how much data has been used and online duration on its OLED display. Battery will last for more than 4 hours after a full charge.
Three introduced very fast, HSPA+ enabled Premium dongles (40% faster than HSPA, standard USB modem sticks) a couple of months ago.
By launching new wi-fi product, 3 becomes only operator offering an entirely next generation HSPA+ enabled range of mobile broadband products, according to David Kerrigan, Head of mobile broadband at Three,
Mobile Wi-Fi or MiFi devices, when compared to the dongles, allow users to link up to five wi-fi enabled devices like laptops, iPads and consoles to use broadband on the go.
Currently, 3 Mobile offers many pay monthly and pay as you go mobile broadband packages that include high speed mobile broadband dongles and wireless MiFi modems free of cost.
